New Year, New NC Music: Lizzie Killian is the primary songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist of pop punk indie rock outfit Teens in Trouble (@teensintrouble). A Californian native, Killian’s called Raleigh home since 2019. After a lull, Killian’s inspiration rekindled during the pandemic, and she’s since been on a hot streak, culminating in the compulsively listenable, hook-filled LP WHAT’S MINE (2024), released by CA scene stalwart Asian Man Records. Lovers of guitar driven rock with an emo tinge will find lots to love on WHAT’S MINE, and we hear tasteful extensions of Weezer, Pixies, and Interpol in its grooves.
