From Rapsody to J. Cole, Cordae to 9th Wonder, contemporary North Carolina music wouldn’t be half of what it is today without hip-hop. This being the case, it’s the perfect time to revisit “History & Highballs: How Hip-Hop Took Shape in North Carolina” from The NC Museum of History (@ncmuseumhistory). In the program from June of last year, DJ and radio producer Damon “Doc” Johnson (@wasup_doc) traces the roots of NC hip-hop. It’s an educational and entertaining look at the Tarheel MCs, DJs and B-boys who put “North Cack” on the map: link in bio!
