Durham’s Alice Gerrard (alice.gerrard) is this week’s featured artist on SHAPED BY SOUND (today [Thursday] at 9:30). To celebrate, we prepared a brief primer on the NCMO blog (link in bio) on the contours of Gerrard’s long and storied life in old-time music. It runs down her storied history, from her days in the groundbreaking duo Hazel & Alice through to her solo work as a musician and vernacular historian, to her continuing work today as a mentor to a whole community of NC artists.
