April means spring and spring means festival season. And North Carolina is blessed to be home to myriad wonderful music gatherings large and small. In addition to providing a space for fellowship and communal experience, these events draw thousands to our state every year, boosting local and statewide economies. And J. Cole’s Dreamville (@dreamvillefest) in Raleigh (April 5-6), Doc Watson’s Merlefest (@merlefest) in Wilkesboro (April 24-27), and Rhiannon Giddens’s new Biscuits & Banjos (@biscuitsandbanjosfest) in Durham (April 25-27), are arguably the big three of this year’s fests. Few states have one music event of such stature in their state – we have three going on in April alone. To celebrate, we’ve assembled a mix of North Carolinians playing this year at Dreamville, Merlefest, and Biscuits & Banjos. Dig in and listen via the link in bio.
