As the band’s name suggests, Town Mountain’s an Asheville band. In their twenty-year run, they’ve shifted, as Holler magazine aptly describes it, “from a hard-driving bluegrass troupe into a twangy country-rock collective.” Founded by banjo player Jesse Langlais and guitarist Robert Greer, the group continues to transform its sound as it matures. Now on the long-running New West label, these bluegrass mainstays now channel The Band and roots rock as much as more trad fare.
