Exciting news! The esteemed reissue label Numero Group (@thenumerogroup) has turned its attention on Greensboro funk and soul label Linco! Spearheaded by one-time Come Hear NC contributor and all-time Triad recordhead Jon Kirby (@jonathanckirby), THE LINCO LABEL is Numero’s latest installment of the long-running ECCENTRIC SOUL series. It’s out May 2nd on vjnyl and digital. The compilation focuses on Walter Grady’s stable of labels, which drew talent from NC A&T in Greensboro, and produced both some of the funkiest stompers and heart-rending sweet soul 45s the Seventies produced. The comp features gems and jams from the likes of Roy Roberts, The Blenders, Gin & the Gents, The Party Brothers, The Opells, and many more.
