This upcoming Sunday at 2 PM, Dr. Naomi André will give a talk on “Visual and Performing Arts as Spaces of Possibility” at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, East Building, SECU Auditorium. Weaving together discussions of pieces in the current NCMA exhibition THE TIME IS ALWAYS NOW with contemporary operas like WINNIE and FIRE SHUT UP IN MY BONES, Dr. André's lecture charts the ways in which new work in the visual and performing arts opens up room for inventive representations of experience, situation and identity which were often obscured by dominant forms in the past.
